Starbucks and all the other counter service stores need to get those freaakin' tip jars off the counters. It really irks me when some Coto lady gets a $1.90 cup of coffee then tosses the change from a five in the jar.

We don't tip salepeople in Target, and we don't tip the Sears hardware guy, not the ticket taker at the movie house, or the attendant behind the window of a self-service gas station.....come on folks...tipping in this country has gotten out of hand.

As to$1 a drink....still too much. I do however consider tips differently when my wife and I are on the same tab. Minimum bar tip is $2 , but that doesn't start to increase until we have had about three drinks each, and the bartender has made sure we have chips and salsa. I agree...the price of drinks is killing tips. I wonder if bartenders realize that?

If a person is able to parlay their personality, talent, and efficiency into providing an enjoyable drinking/dining experience for others and this translates into a good living wage then more power to them! I love doling out nice tips for great service.

its all a matter of opinion......how old you are....how cheap you are.....where you grew up.....what kinda jobs you had growin up.....all kinds of factors....anyone who automatically disagrees with tipping and thinks tippin a buck on one drink is too much is completely out of touch with the real world and should get with the times....

If the worst problem we can find to kvetch about, is the great American custom of tipping for service, I've got to say this sounds very good. Must be that times are looking up!
