I was planning on coming to the Lancaster area in the next couple of weeks, and I was just curious to know if the “Civic Musical Road” is still there (the one that plays the William Tell Overture when you drive over it)? I know that the original “Civic Musical Road” got paved over in September 2008, due to many nearby residents complaining of all of the noise the modified road made (thanks to the Honda Motor Company ) . . . yet a new road was built on October 15, 2008 (on Avenue G between 30th Street West and 40th Street West ).

So is the second road still there up and running?

Nick

Yes, the musical road is still in Lancaster. It can be easily accessed off of State Route 14 at the "Avenue G" exit.

It is still there, making music for all who pass by. It is pretty cool! Please don't try to drive on it backwards. Even though it would be fun to try to hear what it sounds like backwards, this is not a good idea.

It is real close to Apollo Park, which is gorgeous, and has three lakes with ducks and fishing and all that jazz!

OctoberRedSky31, if you do a Wikipedia search under "Civic Musical Road", it will pull up a page that will tell you about other "musical roads" in the world, but here is what is says about the road in Lancaster:
