no real music scene. unfortunately rock is mostly dead. the clubs will play top 40 like lady gaga, britnety, kesha.

oh wait I guess there are some indie underground bands in silverlake still

but the strip is now pay to play, so rich teenagers have daddy rent out the whisky

Las bandas for sure!

I've decided to learn the harmonica some day. I learned guitar in my teens, and by my 20s I realized that the guitar wasn't for me. I can still play chords almost as good as then. (Translation: not very good. Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray, no need to worry about competition from me!)

OP, there isn't any L.A. music. We are one of the world centers of all music production. If you can make it here you can make it anywhere. If you can make it anywhere you don't need to be here. Music is global now. The only obstacles are cultural. Unfortunately culture is everything. Thus rap music ... and las bandas.
