Does anyone know of any honest rent with option to buy programs in Los Angeles? I actually live in Glendale and am hoping to remain in the area. I currently rent a two-bedroom, two bathroom apartment (I have two dogs). I don't mind paying the same rent that I'm paying now if I have a chance to eventually purchase something down the road. I really just want a small yard for the pooches to romp in. A townhouse is my preference.

One group that advertises itself all over craigslists and purports to be a national organization that has helped many potential homeowners, turned out to be a gigantic scam. Fortunately, I hadn't paid them any money yet.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I'd suggest you pay the least amount of rent possible and save up a down payment with anything thats left over.

Does anyone have valid information about programs that serve the Los Angeles County area?

No one is responding because the entire concept of rent to own is a racket....

Well thanks for responding then, I guess it was too good to be true. I actually sold my house when I moved to California from the midwest, but the profit was not enough for me to afford similar housing out here.

Hang in there, Burbank was WAY overinflated by the bubble. It's dropping pretty fast and may get into a normal price range....it was only 10 years ago that small cosmetic fixers went for $225-275K and theres no reason those homes won't drop into an inflation adjusted similar price.
