I'm considering Los Angeles. There's crime, the potential of a deadly earthquake, etc but danger exists everywhere so that doesn't bother me. I've had my fair share of quakes, the worst was the Nisqually in 2001, obviously nothing compared to the quakes in LA but...I know im getting into a dangerous quake zone so idc. I know its a broad question but where are some good things to know before moving? Im going to try my damdest not to rent, simply buy a house, however I doubt thatll come cheap. Your help and suggestions are appreciated. And wheres the best place to scope out real estate? I live in Washington so ill have to do it online.

so let's get this straight: you are an 18 year old kid, wanting to move to Los Angeles, you don't say anything about jobs, career or education, but you want to buy a house and you now live someplace in Washington. Why do I get the idea you are not really serious?

He's clearly a young millionaire entrepreneur, give him a break.

...of course, many have called my plan to get a tiny studio apartment in a cheap part of town and work two part-time jobs unrealistic...moreso the people on Yelp...apparently it's impossible for anyone to live in LA, ever.

99% of the people posting about moving to LA apparently don't need jobs, they are either rich or making big bucks from home. I don't know what to say about that.

Ok, i've read some other topics like a good netzien, and talked to some relatives who've lived there and am now in a realistic state of mind. Southern California? Bakersfield? Anything in that area that would be not as full of poverty, scum, and 200x more expensive than anything I could ever attain?
