Also, how do you get a lot of quarters? Seems like you need to always carry a ton of them since it seems parking meters only take quarters and not any other sort of coin..

Some do, some don't. Hard to say. In places that give you crap time already, I doubt they'll take anything but quarters and dollar coins.

As far as getting them: go to your bank for a roll, ask a cashier at a grocery store for a roll, get them out of a change machine at a laundrymat, etc

Yea, I ran out of quarters and kept inserting nickels and dimes and the time left didn't change and the meter just kept my money. Didn't even spit it back

The meters in weho haven't been retrofitted yet with the fancier credit card machines the city of los angeles has.
They still take quarters, dimes and nickels, but not sure of the newer credit card machines.

I still use cash on a regular basis so I always have some change in my coin jar. If I run out, I usually just walk over to the laundrymat and get $20 worth of quarters and stock up the jar. As it gets colder out, I start driving to the gym instead of walking so I always need some coins to park.

1) some take dimes and nickles, some some only take quarters. impossible to tell. depends on how old the meter.

2) Some of the more modern meters take credit cards, which is very nice.

3) i live in an area that loves parking meters. I'll get a roll of quarters at the bank ($10) when needed. I also ask for $10 cash back at the market and take the $10 in a roll of quarters. They're normally okay with that. I leave the roll in my car as needed.
