I had moved from San Diego to Fountain Valley in OC this February for a new job (more like to be closer to my boyfriend who lived in La Puente at that time). Since then, my bf accepted a job in Ontario for better opportunities and moved there, and now we are doing OC - SBD every weekend.

When my Fountain Valley apartment lease is up next February, we would like to find a mutual place between Long Beach where my job is and Ontario where his job is.

Please share with me which areas can be suggested. I'm from San Diego, so I don't know too much about the remote areas and traffic.

Would Hacienda Heights to Long Beach and Hacienda Heights to Ontario be bad commutes for both of us? How about Diamond Bar? It would be longer commute for me to Long Beach. I am out of ideas.

I have a V8 Mustang and the fuel economy is bad, but make a decent money here at Long Beach. Bf has a more fuel efficient car but makes less money in Ontario.

Thanks for your inputs!!

Well, it appears Fullerton is the midway point (as the crow flies) between the two cities, so you could theoretically look down around that way too.

The middle of a freeway trip between Long Beach and Ontario is MOL at the 60/605 interchange, so Hacienda Heights might not be a bad idea either.

Hopefully, other posters more familiar with traffic patterns will chime in with other suggestions.

The more east parts of Whittier are pretty nice. Bf could take the streets to Hacienda Bl. Then to the 60 where it's a reverse commute. I'm guessing 30-35 minute commute to Ontario.

For you, I'd think you take surface streets to Imperial to the 605...I'm gueesing a 40-45 minute commute.

Fullerton or Anaheim might be good. You might want to search or post on the Orange and San B county pages and find out how long commutes are.

LOL, it's all good. Covina might be a little out of the way for the Long Beach one too.

Here's what I'm thinking, maybe somewhere in the blue circle:

You guys will be driving on the 10, 60, and 605 quite a lot.

If you two have regular 9AM-5PM type jobs, then the Ontario person won't be stuck in traffic, but the Long Beach person will.

I would actually suggest something like San Gabriel, Rosemead, or El Monte. Those areas have easy access to the 10, 60, and the 605--even the 710. Those areas are just west of the 605--which gives the Long Beach person a short break from the traffic.

With Hacienda Heights, the Long Beach person will have to drive on the 60 during rush hours... it's _merciless_.

Yeah, but not for very long, probably like 4 miles.
