I have an offer to work in a couple of hospitals in Inglewood and Willowbrook. Where would you live if you had a young family? I will be renting to start out and would be willing to spend between 2000-4000/month for a condo or small 3 bed home.

My two priorities would be crime/safe neighborhood and a reasonable commute. I know traffic is bad in LA so Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, and other west LA neighborhoods would be reasonable, but perhaps less affordable. What about places like Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Whittier, etc. Would they be off your list? Any other recs? Thanks.

Culver City and El Segundo come to mind and fit your rental price range. Because you'll be traveling to Willowbrook, I think you're going to want easy access to the 105. Both have good school systems. I don't think Manhattan Beach is too much of a reach, but you'll get less house/condo for more $.

If you work in Inglewood, you may want to live in the South Bay coastal cities like Torrance, Redondo Beach Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo or even the Playas to Culver City. All have good schools and safer areas. Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank would be a terrible commute to Inglewood/Willowbrook.

If I had a job in Inglewood, I'd live in Inglewood. Traffic on that side of town is bad, and there are nice neighborhoods in Inglewood, more along the west side of town.

El Segundo is nice. I love Gardena as well. There are great parts of Inglewood too. The school question is subjective. I always see Pasadena fawned over, and they might have the worst public schools in all of greater L.A.

the wiseburn school district serves part of inglewood and is pretty highly rated, especially when compared to the nearby hawthorne and inglewood school districts.
