Restaurant business is tough, people want new things, and Sizzler hasn't kept up with the times. Ditto Marie Callender's, Coco's and the like. Out with the old, in with the new. When your clientele is aging and younger folks aren't coming, it's just a matter of time.

I hadn't been to a Sizzler in like 10 years and I went to one a few months ago and now remember why I don't go. Below average food and expensive for the food quality. I can get much better tasting food for half the price from a local restaurant or Asian buffet.

Sizzler still exists on the westside - they have a location on Sepulveda very, very close to their original location (which was destroyed to build the 405)

Sizzler USA

The food's not that good and the prices are high. That's why they're suffering.

Good but not that good, cheap but not that cheap, nothing to recommend them unless you had one nearby that at least offered convenience. Nothing that thousands of other restaurants offered too.

No reason to eat there. No reason not to eat there. No reason to care at all.

we have been in two: one in Flagstaff, AZ a few years ago. It really is a pretty good one, the other, in SW Los Angeles, near LAX. It was awful. Oh, and there is still one in ABQ, I think: it too is bad and dirty.

The Sizzlers in Culver City has always been busy when I've been there (like 6-7 pm on a weeknight). Probably 70-80% of capacity. The last time I was there, the tables all the way in the back were being used.

Anyone remember the two in Santa Monica on wilshire. There was one in a bank building, I think at wilshire and bundy. Then there was another one down the street, a few blocks west.

-I think places like panera bread, and upscale mall food courts have hurt the traditional sit down restaurant.

-Sizzler is ok. The problem with many of these places, their food isn't that fancy in the current times. Maybe 20 years ago. But like Sizzlers deserts. Nothing really proprietary or unique. Their selection doesn't keep up with other places.

I wonder how places like Sizzlers, Marie Calendars will be doing in 10 years.

It's not just LA. There are not very many down here in San Diego either.

Sizzler was ideal if you didn't have a lot of time and money.

The same thing happened a couple of years ago in NYC. Sizzlers closed down several locations but just left a few open.
