Thinking about living in Manhattan Beach and working near Silver Lake.

Are there any secrets to avoid rush hour traffic? How about leaving at 6AM every morning?

Not sure about what time to come home to avoid some of the chaos.

Thanks for any insights!

The easiest way to not have an awful commute, is to not live in MB and commute to Silverlake.

Short of that, work ungodly hours, work from home when possible, deal with it, etc.

Um, I don't think there's a way out if you're going to work daily besides what has already been suggested: earliest or latest times possible. Those become consistent except for the occasional car accident or whatever.

MTE, and the two are so different from each other. Unless you own an antique home in MB or something might as well just move to SL.

You could buy a motorcycle and split lanes/use carpool lanes on the freeways.

He could, but he wrote this in his original post:

Has anyone mentioned public transportation? Green line then up to to downtown? Might work.

Thats a helluva trip. Requires green line to blue line to red line. And then the nearest stop to silver lake on the red line is in Los Feliz at Sunset/Vermont or Hollywood/Vermont.

OP should not live in MB or anywhere near the beach if OP works in Silver Lake, IMO.

And OP, 6am isn't early enough to avoid traffic.

If you can get on the roads before 5:00am, it is usually full speed except for right when you hit downtown.

Have you considered flying a helicoptor to work? Maybe if you could find a heli pad near both places then you could avoid the rush hour traffic. All kidding aside, I avoid it by not living in it. I like working less than 8 miles away from home.
