Good evening. I live in PA and i am thinking about quitting my job $70,000 a year to retire in San Diego. I am simply just tired of working since i already retired from the AirForce. I hear mixed reviews about SD and was wondering A: What the cost of living would be for a couple with no kids, debt free, don't smoke, drink or party, liability only auto insurance, and no car payment? B: Live a very modest life style, which is usually just walking along the beach, spends most of my money eating out. With all this said, i am only looking for an apartment for no more than $1000 a month with most utilities included in a nice safe neighborhood...question is, given all these facts, is it possible to live off of roughly $2500.00 a month? Tell me what you think because i have been living on the East coast all my life and this will be my first attempt on the West. Thanks for taking time to reply...one more thing, i will be traveling to SD this weekend to scope things out!

Just the idea of 1k rent on 2500 income is a big red flag.

Why retire here in CA when it is so expensive? So many other states to enjoy without the cost.
