Hi!

A friend and I are looking to spend the summer in LA. Could anyone tell me which the cheapest but safe areas are to rent?

Thank you so much!

Lisa

Why does everyone ask for cheap and safe?

Once -- just once -- I'd like to see a post saying "I'm looking for the most expensive and dangerous areas to live."

If you want a summer sublet, look around colleges in the areas you are drawn to.

These apartments also have "flexible lease options" which means short-term if you prefer.

I would assume anything listed on VRBO.com (vacation rentals - short and long term) has to be safe.

check for listings in the North Village area of Westwood near UCLA. There's tons of sublets for the summer when students go home. The area is fairly safe, especially with the frats empty. In fact some of the frats rents out rooms in their houses to summer guests, so you could check there.
