I loved the Mapping LA Project the LA Times did but they used the 2000 census so it's way out of date. Only their crime stats are updated.

What do you thing the future will look like? Are there any areas of the city that you think will become more white, or more black or more hispanic? Are we going to see any significant changes in 2020 or is it more likely to stay as it is?
To me the most interesting thing (and really a change from 20 years ago) is the Asian majority developing in Bellflower. That was a real white lower-middle to middle class area back in the day. Property owners are loving it.

In my mind's eye I always thought south of the 10 black and north of it white / etc. But that black zone stretching well toward the middle of BH. Learn something new every day.

More White: Definitely the parts of LA being gentrified. Beach cities will still be predominately white, although maybe a few percentage points less.

More black: Nope. There will only be a tiny corridor of black majority neighborhoods left in 2020, with many of the current ones becoming majority hispanic.

More Asian: Irvine, South Pasadena, and Fountain valley will most likely be an Asian plurality, if not outright majority by 2020. The Asian clusters in the SGV and Orange County will become even more Asian, as will any neighboring white neighborhoods.

More Hispanic: Everything else.

Mid City, parts of South Robertson, the easternmost parts of Palms, and the southernmost parts of Miracle Mile.

Oh so Jews are considered white? Interesting. You can easily find Jews in the affluent parts of LA where they tend to be the majority. What about Armenians in Glendale? Its pretty much nothing but them with a few Hispanics. Its interesting to see who is "white" and who isn't, just saying. This map isn't very surprising and it confirms who has the political power in L.A. and who doesn't. The political power in L.A. is usually concentrated in the affluent parts of the area.

^Jews are almost always white. Persian Jews don't fit into the typical white American definition, but may be considered white by the census. But Eastern European Jews are without question white.
