We'll probably leave around 1PM tomorrow. How badly are we going to get stuck in traffic?

You want to get a radar detector, water and candy etc. to keep hydrated and awake.

Likely, bad. It's the Friday before a long weekend. 1:00 PM should be lighter than say, 6:00 PM.

If you're leaving at 1pm, you'll likely escape just before traffic gets real bad. I wouldn't leave any later. As mentioned above, its a holiday weekend, so anything can happen. Good luck.

I left for Vegas on a Friday at 1 pm about 3 weeks ago, and I regretted it. Wasn't the worst, but added easily 90 minutes more than I am used to. It's really better to leave for Vegas in the AM, like 10 or 11 am latest. When I've gone those times it's been the standard 4 hours or so (not including stops)

Adding the fact that it's a holiday weekend, 1 pm is gonna get you stuck in some bad traffic.

Not to mention how miserably crowded vegas will be this weekend.

I learned many years ago to never take a trip to Las Vegas on a holiday weekend.
Obviously you are going, so I would say leave at 7am, and arrive there by 11 or 11:30 am.
Less traffic, and a bit cooler on the vehicle as you drive.
Bob.

Yeah, I visited Vegas once over Thanksgiving. I would never do it again. The crowds were just crazy on the Strip.

Worst part is getting out of LA. Even with the holiday, if you get over to Glen Helen area by 230 or so, it won't be that tough a trip.

If you can leave by 11 or noon, its better.
