Well there is a big difference between "LA" and LA county. Yah you could live out in Monrovia but it's such a pain to get to anyplace from there if you want the LA experience.

I have a HUGE bias towards West LA which you can still find a small 2 BR for $1400. Great location and safe, squeezed between Westwood and Santa monica. I would not want to live there with kids but great location for those relocating with no attachments

Burbank, Koreatown, Pasadena, and I've found some 2 bedrooms for that much in Los Feliz but they're old. I know for sure you can get 2 bdrms in north Hollywood and van nuys .

Sorry not in West LA.

I wonder if you can get a 2 br for that much in Burbank though. I know people who have gotten 1 beds for around 1000 there.

Though you can get some spacious one bedrooms for 1400 in desirable areas like West LA and Hollywood.
Hi Disgruntled,

While that's a low low amount in most of westside, Silver Lake, DTLA, etc....it's a fairly normal amount for a dated, clean place elsewhere in LA. A quick search on craigslist bears this out. 2 bd/1ba in all of SFV including Burbank and Sherman Oaks. On the westside you can get that price in Westchester and Palms. Also very common pricing or even less in SGV, and basically anywhere south of the 60 in LA County, all the way to the ocean.

I agree, that's why I said "known" parts.

To the poster who said a 2 br in WLA, I doubt it. Maybe you can find one extreme example but generally 2 br there are closer to 2000.

I like older way more than newer. The newer apts look so cheap with cheap beige carpeting, cheap fixtures, hideous vertical blinds and so on. I don't like the older ones that look like motels but the ones from the 20s, 30s and early 40s.
