Barnes & Noble and Hamburger Hamlet both closing. Sad.

When is that Hamburger Hamlet closing?

I worked at the long-gone locations in West LA & Beverly Hills in 1977 & 78, and to this date I've never had a better hamburger anywhere.

Huge store on Riverside, not on that list for some reason.

I dunno, man. Don't get me wrong. There's a place for ALL books in a bookstore. There IS a Religion and Spirituality section in every store. Why does B&N give such prominence to all the Christian stuff, like the first two or three isles? Are they pandering? Proselytizing? If I wanted to be immersed in that stuff, I'd move to Jesusland.

Just a peeve. But it kind of gives me the creeps, TBH.

To me, it looks like retail is booming all over LA, actually.

January 2 I believe.

They are gutting the place. https://www.wavebid.com/image-galler...b-0a32a12625a1

I read about it on FB's Vintage Los Angeles page.

I just ate there on Christmas Eve.

If someone said that a prominent display of Jewish books gave them "the creeps," that person would be called anti-Semitic. But I guess it's okay to publicly sneer at Christianity.

As to your question, I assume B&N is prominently displaying Christian books because, even today, most Americans are Christian (sorry if that offends you), which means plenty of Christian book-buyers, especially around Christmas time.

^^^^Makes plenty of sense to me as well; I'm not sure what you mean by 'prominence', since very few B&N stores that I've been to throughout LA, OC and nationwide have identical layouts, as evidenced by the fact that whenever I enter one of their stores, the besy-seller and current events racks are directly in my line of sight, along with their very well-stocked newsstands.

The BN in Glendale Americana has also closed, reportedly.

Did the entire Hamburger Hamlet chain close, or just the one in Pasadena? I've never been in there, it always looks so empty.

Are you sure you aren't looking up the original Glendale location on Glendale Ave? The Americana location still has Yelp reviews from the past few days.

The original location shut down and moved to the Americana.

It was here where TJ Maxx is now:
