I finally read the link and I'm guessing OP has an agenda to make LA look bad. This is a very deceptive OP.

I dunno man.

Usually CA/LA bashers link to crap they find on conservative sites. The OP linked to legitimate news, but cherry-picked the data.

He seems cagier than the average troll. That's why I asked if he was CA-basher Joel Kotkin, the Right's favorite "urbanist"- actually, the Right's ONLY urbanist (Kotkin lives in Encino, btw).

Anyway, whatever he was trying to say, the OP has had plenty of time to come back and expand on his points (or correct his spelling), and so far... crickets.

yeah, one look at the OP's posting history reveals his penchant for creating anti-LA/OC and anti-CA threads. this is nothing new for him. just another malcontent with too much time on his hands.

It's always the people who moved to another state who seem to troll the most with negative drivel.

"I moved away from LA/OC because I totally found a better place to live but hey, I'll spend all of my time on City-Data trashing LA/OC to convince myself I made the right decision."

Thats the thing that matters the most. In the past 10 years most of my family has left here. My parents, brothers, cousins, aunt, uncles. They all moved to the Southern US.

So your family accounts for most of this migration.

Next.

Aren't these just estimates? Extrapolating data from the 2010 census isn't very useful anyway--LA was at rock bottom during that time, which would no doubt cause out-migration to hasten. As for international immigration--hasn't it been stagnant since the Great Recession? These numbers seem like the opposite of reality.

Job growth has improved, median home values are way up, and overall the region feels far more active than it did 4-5 years ago. I wouldn't take these estimates too seriously.

I agree that net domestic migration is significant (I don't about "thing that matters most"- why would you say that?)

But, intentionally or otherwise, your OP implied that LA has suffered a NET LOSS of population over the last ten years. And that is false. Through natural birth rate, and international in-migration, the metro area has actually seen a NET GROWTH of 1,000,000 over the past ten years.

So, why did your family leave for the "Southern US"? Are you still here?

Wendell Cox is another one. He's even worse than Kotkin.
