Hi, I am a Dane, currently living in Denmark and I have been offered at job in Los Angeles as a Software Engineer at $110k a year. Before I move there would I like to get an idea about what neighborhood would fit be best, as I have lived in America before where I got stuck in a bad neighborhood for about year.
I have been doing a lot of searching but I find the information I have found to be contradictory, so I where hoping some of you might share your knowledge.
My plan is to find a cheap place to rent for the first month or two, when I move over there to get my bearing, but I would be nice to have an idea of where to look.
I am male, 28, single, and will be making about $110k a year. I would like my neighbors to be around income group as me.

My plan is the rent an 1 bedroom apartment for the first few years.

If you'l be working in Santa Monica, live there or as closely as possible. Find a temporary place on www.airbnb.com and go from there.

It is in Santa Monica, but I don't mind a longer commute if i can live better with like-minded people, plus I drive a motorcycle so traffic is less of a problem.

Santa Monica is very nice. If you work there and want to live in an affluent area then live there. Santa Monica isn't far from much of anything so it seems like a convenient place to live, too.

Yeah Santa Monica is nice area and you will be able to live there on the salary .

Just curious you said last time you moved to America you got stuck in the bad neighborhood was that in California too ?

I'm America generally the higher income areas are nicer and have less crime .

Cleaner , safer , more things to do restaurants etc .

It's probably this way everywhere
