Heh, Compton has national average prices, but yeah.. Compton.
I'm not the only one who knows where the deals are, look at the 405N in the morning or the 101E. These people choose to drive an hour a day to not pay the prices you read about.

There's nowhere in the Midwest that doesn't spend most of the summer above 65. If you want weather that rarely gets above 65, you're pretty much limited to Anchorage or San Francisco. From December through May, the average high in Santa Monica is <65. July through Oct is around 70 for a average high. The rest of the beach cities in LA are similar.

Well, no kidding. I never said it was perfect, but I'll give you that there aren't many areas around that are like that, but it would be neat. I could manage in Anchorage.

There are no shortage of walkable neighborhoods in Southern California. If you look, the LA area has the 2nd most "walk-ups" in the country, which I believe is their code for walkable neighborhoods.
Ahh, I was trying to figure out how LA could possibly rate below KC, Houston, Cleveland, Atlanta and Columbus.

It depends what they were using to determine.

I could rent you a 3 bedroom 2 bath 1700 square foot deluxe house in phoenix for that same amount, and that includes a pool and a large master bedroom suite, stove, fridge, dishwasher, granite counters, A/C, 2 car garage, 7000 square foot lot. Fancy neighborhood, freeway handy, nearby shopping... and of course hot summers.

You can't have everything but I can't imagine somebody living in a 1br 1ba for that price. Ya gotta love L.A.

Not possible in this part of the world. Worst case might be 9 something. I doubt we'll ever see an 8.

Yeah, no kidding. It only seems like the people FROM California want to defend the place. I'm sorry, but I couldn't give one piece of my mind if I saw an ocean from my window, or not. I want a better house, not better accessibility to something that I don't even like.
