She obviously means she wants to remain anonymous to us, online.

Good question. OP is attractive enough to model but in almost a year couldn't get a server job at a nice restaurant?

Lots of other young hopefuls do that and get their rent and bills paid, while trying to get into the modeling/acting.

Sounds like someone sat on their a** for close to a year, and the parents are tired of footing the bill.

Almost. One can want to remain anonymous with their online identity and have a high profile profession within media and the public eye. But I see where you were trying to go with your comment. Nevertheless, a troll is a troll.

I think the term troll is played out...

1. If you want to pursue a public career, one were exposure is a good thing, you don't hide your appearance.

2. If you go on a message board and say, I'm having a heard time finding work as a model, should I stay or should I go, you don't hide your appearance.

Now if she was an established model and was just asking advice from locals, I could see protecting your identity. But a model is judged by appearance and if you want to stay hidden, how the heck can some tell you to stick it out or not?

How she looks will be a HUGE factor in whether people tell here to stick with it or not.

You're doing a good job of sounding more inane than the original poster. Keep it up. Anonymity on the internet does not equal anonymity in her profession. It would do you well to understand the difference.

Not when your asking for career advice.....in a professional based solely on looks.

She asked for life advice, not career advice.

That need to "remain anonymous" may signal your problem. May be deep seeded...may be psychological, but you should submit for acting jobs or try getting into commercials. Commercials are the "badda" to modeling's "bing" (not the best but I try).

I was initially going to troll but you got me thinking now. Definitely commercials and acting (these dorky film makers & sound guys are suckers for models). Also look up "Brand Ambassadors in California" on facebook--I can't tell you how many job postings they put up looking for females to work weekend shifts to showcase wines/beers/alcohol at stores or events, hosting, etc. Some will require TABC certification if it involves alcohol sales, but I would definitely check them out on facebook.

Other than that, I can't think of anything off top my head. But if you're a model and you have yet to try getting commercials (which I imagine isn't the case), it would serve you well.

My mom used to do some modeling in her day and what she said about it is true today as I run into models every now and then. Most models have been getting their asses kissed their whole lives and tend to have a little "diva" in them. They don't approach their "modeling gigs" as a real job (as is the case with many actors) in the sense that a lot of models sometimes don't even show up to sheduled shoots, respond to calls/emails in a timely fashion, and show up to set late. If you committed any of these errors in a 9-5 job, it's grounds for dismissal. Get you fired real quick.

But yes--show up on time, be reliable, enjoy yourself but treat the jobs/gigs/shoots as you would an interview for Harvard Business school or a nursing job at the medical center. My mom said that photographers tended to use and refer her more and more simply because she was reliable. Your number 1 asset is availability. Maybe try working and establishing relationships with photographers for free, get them to like you & maybe they will refer you down the line? Keep building your network. There's gotta be personal assistant jobs out there or internships with podcasts, radio shows, etc. Heck I don't know lol.

Say what you want about modeling but it is real tough. You gotta keep at it till you got nothing left though--you only live once. A lot of these people that move out to LA end up leaving after a year, so the longer you stick it out and get yourself seen more and more, the more the cards will start stacking in your favor. Don't go all-in with 5/6 off suit--wait till you have a semi-playable hand--maybe even a Jack/9.
