Where is Griffith Park in Los Angeles, and is their a residential area in Griffith Park? If there is a residential area in Griffith Park how would you describe it, and is it safe?

Griffith Park is near the junction of I-5 and the 134 freeways. It is north of Los Feliz Blvd,, east of the Hollywood freeway, south of the 134 freeway and west of the I-5 freeway. There isn't a real Griffith Park residential area though there are neighborhoods around it.

I think the park is something like 4400 acres so it's a pretty big urban park.

I would consider most of the neighborhoods around Griffith Park to be safe (the Los Feliz area, Burbank, Glendale, Toluca Lake, Lake Hollywood). The only area that might be a bit sketchy is the area in Hollywood around Franklin closer to the Hollywood Bowl. I'm not really sure though since I haven't really spent much time there in the last 20 years. 25 years ago, that was an interesting neighborhood but it might be a lot different now.

From a visitor's prespective, I'd say Los Feliz is pretty close to Griffin Park :-)

Yeah, but it's not "in" Griffith Park. The Equistrian Center is part of Griffith Park too, but the Burbank area around it is not "in" the park.
