Well, I suppose that could be a good place for visitors too.

I suppose that three of the most popular/touristy sites include:

* Disneyland

* Universal Studios tour: Front of Line Pass | Universal Studios Hollywood

* Grauman's Chinese Theater on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: Hollywood Walk of Fame

Those are "must see" sites when friends visit, even though Disneyland is in Orange County. But I've also take friends to these places:

* Venice Beach. Grittier and more "authentic" than Santa Monica Beach. Muscle Beach is also there: Muscle Beach Venice | The embodiment of California Beach Lifestyle, Fitness and BodybuildingVenice! . See the bodybuilders pump iron in public (as did Arnold Schwarzenegger back in the day). Also top skateboarders showing off their skills, street performers, musicians, and artists (eager to draw you for pay). And homeless.

* Malibu Beach. Drive down the Pacific Coast Highway and have fish for lunch at Gladstone's: Gladstones Malibu Restaurant - Pacific Palisades, CA | OpenTable . Some people think it's over-priced and over-rated, but I like it.

* Drive up Topanga Canyon for the "canyon experience." Maybe stop at a tourist shop: Topanga Canyon - Topanga, CA | Yelp

* Drive on the 10 into the desert for the "desert experience": Deserts of California - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . I once drove a friend out to Palm Springs. He was impressed by the desert's beauty. I also passed what looked like an Indian casino. Or you can drive toward Las Vegas and see Death Valley Desert itself.
