Just heard the news about Google buying tons of space in Playa Del Rey! Reports are saying its enough room for 6,000 employees. That would be amazing for the los angeles economy and for that area. That area, "Silicon Beach" is ripe for more tech companies. It's such a fresh, new area with all the new homes/apartments and new movie theaters going up over there...And these will be good paying, career jobs! What do you guys think?

There are rumors Apple is eyeing space in downtown LA. But that is just speculation/rumor until a deal (if any) is inked.

Some of these firms have so much cash to burn you wonder if what they plan to build here will last.....

Bad. will further increase density and traffic, will further drive up rental prices which will force working people out of their homes. will bring more out of state wealthy yuppies with their pretentious attitudes.

"Silicon Beach" needs more tech companies about as badly as Skid Row needs more homeless people.

"MOAR JOBZZZ!" Isn't that what you guys are always crying for - Corporate America to throw you a bone? Now that you hear about Google moving in and creating thousands of new jobs in the LA area from tech industry to service to construction to administration... now you're STILL complaining. The constant whining never ends with liberals. You should be kissing Google's feet and doing whatever it takes to get them over here. THAT'S what prosperous cities and states do. Well-paying jobs and a solid tax base is what will save the city, not more taxes and handouts.

I'm a Liberal who loves the idea of Google being here. I could see them expanding into other areas too -- like near Pasadena (tech and art people) and Burbank (entertainment, music).

No, not at all. Two posters on an anonymous internet forum said they have an issue with Google. How do you even know their political leanings? Either way, those "two" views are hardly representative of what "liberal" LA thinks.

Google's founder are liberals for the most part. Innovative and high value export economic sectors such as high tech and film/entertainment are populated and led by mostly liberals. And these are among the two American "brands" (Hollywood and tech) which the world still buys in droves. Not a lot of flat earth conservatives in these two sectors. They are too busy building creationist museums to actually think about new technologies.
