Parking in a lot or garage in Manhattan carries a MINIMUM charge of $40. Parking tickets on the street start around $150 and go up. In the "outer boroughs" parking is always at a premium where available. Mostly it's street parking at $.25 for every 15 minutes with limits of an hour or two hours. If there is free parking in a lot the number of spaces number in the low 100's not the thousands. Any parking structures I have been in recently do not have any "free" time or any kind of pass for purchases of any amount. Even for as little as an hour the least I have paid is $3 up to $5.

How about paying for parking when on JURY DUTY??? That is always a treat.

Long Island and Westchester (east and north of NYC) are a little better.

Coming from NYC we found parking in LA plentiful and that made the charges more bearable. To be honest, we often took advantage of the valet options especially at the Grove and Westfield Topanga. $10 and $7 respectively were so worth the convenience.

I do, however, sympathize with the idea of "paying to shop" and the OP's incident was unnecessary from the point of good customer service and encouraging repeat business.

I used to be ok with the $1.00 fee but the $28.00 lost ticket fee, when I clearly had a receipt for $100.00+ from a store in the mall??? That's unfair, and it shows that while they may of had a parking issue with employees, they are now taking advantage.. The attendants attitudes were even worse..with that I actually now resent giving them anything. That's what really aggravated me. It's all good though.. I have a free lifetime pass there now.

And none of these places get my money. BTW, the Fox Hills Mall or whatever they call it these days doesn't charge anything for parking.

Culver City Mall now. I guess you pay for parking or you pay in commuting time.

Yeah, but these are downtown locations. CC is a suburban location. It's West LA, but it isn't remotely like a city center. CC is basically an edge city.

Suburban? Century City is in the basin with a freeway interchange nearby, making it as much city center as downtown which sits near the eastern border of the City of Los Angeles

Century City is not a suburban location at all. An edge city? Are you serious?

Not true. Very much of a downtown city structure there.

Century City and Golden Triangle of Beverly Hills are actually in the center of everything in LA.
DTLA is on the edge, just 20 skyscrapers somewhere near Skid Row and ghettos...

Actually it's not the Golden Triangle but the Platinum Triangle and is truly NOT the center of everything in LA. Not by a long shot.
