Who said anything about giving up income? Just transferring offices

My favorite is the "leaving the door open" thread.

Low only percentage-wise, not in total taxes paid.

Its also easier to find a job over there, and if you lose your job, you can go to a temp agency and get by on $10/hr temporarily. In CA, you can't do that. Lose your job, you can be in serious trouble quickly. Go to a temp service to get by, nobody speaks English at the temp jobs out here, and wouldn't make enough to get by anyway.

And the lower taxes, registration, gas, and no smogging makes that Camry cheaper to run in the Midwest.
The thing is, $20/hr is really good pay in the Midwest- most are not even making that much. I am from the Midwest, just left 5 years ago to get out to the west coast. My wife and I combined back there were making about $50K/yr and we were doing better than many others we knew. Large numbers of people back there, even with the cheap housing, are barely getting by paycheck to paycheck. In fact I felt overall that people were even more "broke" there than I see out here on the west coast. Driving beat up cars, having to wait to pay certain bills until the next paycheck comes in, etc. You would think you'd see less of that back there due to the cheap cost of living, but the MUCH lower pay really makes up much of that difference.
