Taxes - NO.

Environmental Issues - Yes..

Big government - Lean toward no.

Affirmative action - Yes, but not now.

Education - Mostly no.

Economy - Yes and no... that's a hugely complicated and long debate

On the subject of taxes, we are taxed to death but yet, we are told that the state is dead broke. I just dont understand the logic of it.

Told by who? Last I read we had a budget surplus of about $8 Billion.

In my humble opinion (this applies a lot to the USA mega cities of LA, NYC and Chicago mostly equally) both. However it is mostly along the theme that SOCIAL liberalism has helped and FISCAL liberalism has hurt

Social liberalism in these big cities caused interesting and odd types of people who would be outcast elsewhere to congregate in these big places and create interesting cultural things. I am talking about gays, punks, hippies, artists, musicians etc. the culture of these places wouldn't be the without the contributions of these groups.

Fiscal liberalism caused taxes to rise to a point where doing business has become too expensive to run in many big cities. Fiscal liberalism caused public housing to be built in previously middle class areas which caused destabilization and led to people abandoning the area. Section 8 vouches have turned once clean and safe areas into criminal infested hell holes that are falling apart. Like Lancaster.

Here are some things that don't fit in either that have been a negative. Liberal/progressive education and social engineering turned LAUSD from one of the best school systems to one of the worst. Forced integration by bussing caused many middle class people to flee formerly nice areas in the SFV like Canoga Park and Sylma across the county line to Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley so that their children wouldn't have to be bussed to South Central. Liberalism in enforcing the law in regards to vagrancy/homelessness and assisting the government in the detainment and deportation of illegal alien invaders has destroyed QOL all over LA for middle class and law abiding Americans

When did LA ever have forced busing?
I only recall the PWT program, and there were few buses heading towards south central. It was kids coming from the inner city into the SFV. Perhaps they moved because they didn't want their children going to school with minorities, who happened to be bused in by choice from south central.

right. kids were not being bussed into south central.

it's just that those living in the SFV did not want their children attending school with minorities. Thats the truth, but most do not want to admit that.

How old are you? I was there and part of the program (Permit With Transportation) there was no forced busing. I lived through that period back in the 60's through the 80's attending school in LAUSD.

One thing you are correct about is I can't recall any buses heading towards south-central LA. The program was mostly geared for getting kids out of the poor inner-city schools, not the other way around.
