Huntington Park to allow immigrants in U.S. illegally to serve on commissions - LA Times

Jhonny Pineda, a councilman in the city in southeast Los Angeles County, said he will appoint Francisco Medina to the health and education commission and Julian Zatarain to the parks and recreation commission. The problem: They are both illegal.

Pretty crazy for sure. What's next? Businesses that will blatantly only hire illegal immigrants?

"Immigrants in the country illegally are not excluded by law from serving on a commission, which serves solely as advisers to the city council, Pineda said."

Probably because nobody would even think that one would NEED a law to say illegals can't serve on a commission.

I don't think that all illegals are bad people...but technically they are criminals as they are breaking the law.

Undocumented aliens "serving on a commission" are not excluded from immigration law enforcement activities conducted by ICE. But there are so many illegal aliens, that ICE is probably too busy and underfunded to catch and deport them all.

Then again, high profile cases (like these 2) are very low hanging and sweet fruits, should be picked first.

Seems ridiculous to deport two people who are clearly positively contributing to the United States. The younger of the two arrived illegally when he was 13 - so perhaps he had no choice in the matter of coming here. Now that he has been here for almost a decade, should we really send someone like him back?

I don't know, I'm not particularly outraged by this. They aren't even getting the stipend, which was something super tiny anyways like $75 a month.

The moment the guy turned 18, he had a choice to leave the country By staying there, he did violate the law.

On the other hand, I'm not particularly outraged by this either. I could even go as far as "let's give all illegal aliens special working permits for as long as they can prove they're employed, paying taxes, having medical insurance, not getting any monetary aid from government, and barred for life from citizenship (unless chose to move out of the country, lose their working permit, and apply for green card based on some reason other then "already being in the country" and wait another 5-10 years for it (outside of the US).

Well, is Jhonny Pineda legal? If not, there's your answer.

This is very odd and very troubling.

By rights, at some point, with no warning, the PotUS could request the Governor of a given state to deploy the National Guard to any jurisdiction that is overtly rebelling against Federal Law. Just saying. If the state's governor refused, then the Feds could call upon other Federalized forces within usual and customary legal limits.

LA is going out of their way to tighten gun control laws against legal, law abiding citizens while bending over backwards to cater to ILLEGAL CRIMINALS and now this? It is pathetic and disgusting. Its this kind of complete idiocy that makes people from sane states look at California and just shake their heads.
