Gov. Brown, gas leak in Porter Ranch demands more of you

Quote:
The alarming gas leak at Porter Ranch began two months ago and for most of the time Gov. Jerry Brown has been near silent on the issue.

As families were evacuated, a no-fly zone created and schools relocated, residents waited to hear something from the governor.

Brown was talking big on climate change in Paris, even as methane spewed over Porter Ranch, temporarily rolling back emissions gains.
It is quite weird that such an outspoken environmentalist has remained silent about one of the biggest environmental disasters in years, happening right here in his backyard. Would this have to do with his sister being a paid board member on the SoCal Gas board?

Or, is it just Brown being "all talk and no action" yet again?

Thoughts?

I think it's criminal.

25% of the entire STATE'S methane emissions come from that leak. Imagine ANY other pollutant and any other disaster being responsible for 25%. Heads would roll.

Governor Brown’s sister, Kathleen Brown, has strong ties to oil and gas and fracking that have largely gone unreported. The relationships may be playing a role in shaping the governor’s handling of oil and gas matters and his muted response to a record-setting methane leak in Los Angeles.

Kathleen Brown has equity stake in Sempra, the company responsible for record gas leak.

I just don't understand how this can take upwards of 6 months to fix? It seems this should be more urgent.

And apparently they've known since the 70's that a leak could be a major problem.
