Interesting idea! Just curious what would you build instead if downtown LA could be torn down and rebuilt?

NOpe, but it is used constantly as a replacement 'city' in films. The most recent Spiderman movie used Spring Street pretty extensively. Many films supposedly taking place in NYC are actually shot here. Not to mention the silent films like 'Saftey Last' (shot off 7th Street) and tons of stuff by Keaton, Chaplin, etc. 'Seinfeld' of course was shot here, and his apartment is off New Hampshire Street if I'm not mistaken.

I once read a rumor that the studios resisted downtown development, especially on Spring because they didn't want to lose their empty street locations. Regardless, it doesn't seem to stop them- there are crews downtown all the time.
