Honestly can't remember what I was doing because it was hours ago. But I stumbled across this one block of east coast style rowhomes in Westlake. Upon further research, I discovered they've basically been left in shambles and are complete slums. Not surprised that they aren't that nice in that neighborhood, but it's sad. They were built in the early 1920s.

Anyone know of any other interesting streets like that in LA? I know we have a lot of craftsmen and other older style homes through Central LA/Ktown/Mid Wilshire/etc., but this is the first time I've ever seen true, connected rowhomes in LA taking up an entire block.

Bruno street near Chinatown.

Nothing architecturally significant but a small portion of this tiny street has one of LA's only uncovered cobblestone streets.

It seems like maybe these were a style for a while, but parts or entire blocks were torn down to make room for single family homes? That's sad. I love rowhomes.

But wow. Yeah those new ones look like they belong in South OC...NOT DTLA!

Nah, row homes got torn down to build high rises or other commercial properties.

Row homes are real nice.. brings some great ambiance same with brownstones etc..

Yeah they had to make way for bigger high volume buildings.

It's a real shame that a lot of these nice rowhomes and Victorian homes in LA were built in areas that eventually become gang havens like Westlake, Echo Park, and Lincoln Heights.
