Happened to be home now and it's trash day.
I hear what sounded like a trash can moving.
I went out and saw someone dragging one. So I went down the alley a few minutes later and I see a neighbor rolling out a black trash can.
They are 2 or 3 houses down and don't know them.
I say "someone took my trash can, do you happen to know who it is?"..
She bull****s me , then admits it. I'm pretty pissed. I tell her I pay a lot for trash as she knows. She says ,"Sorry sir..I won't do it again" ..UGH.

I saw she had a bunch of broken tile or something in it.

I know it's not the worst thing obviously..but very annoying. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Sad when you can't even trust neighbors..

So they actually took your can, brought it to their property and were filling it with their trash and initially claiming it as their own?

If so, that's definitely beyond annoying. I get mad when I see people walking toss trash in my cans that are freshly emptied but still on the curb because I haven't brought it in yet.

I called the city. They said there is nothing they can do . They just said if they didn't bring it back..they'll give me another one ..on wednesday.

Seems like their policies allow people to do whatever they want with no consequences..

Well, you can't trust people you don't know.

I understand that people come and go, particularly in rental housing, but taking a few opportunities to say "Hi" or some such tends to cut down on crap like this.

And for the record, having my trash bins filled up by freeloaders infuriates me, too.

My Chinese neighbors did this too many times, they threw their trash in our bins, I went and talked to them to stop. Not only that, I called the police and they said if it continues, call them and they can make a citizen arrest.

So what?

I mean, c'mon, it's trash. It's not like she's stealing stuff from you. You're throwing it out.

I don't get what the problem is.

If one of my neighbors wanted to use my trash can, I don't care, as long as it all gets tossed on trash day.
