I keep praying for headlines that will never appear: L.A. Nimby's and Coastal Commissioners Imprisoned! Population zooms to 8 million! Cranes in the air everywhere!

Don't you wish you had a top floor condo on one of those high rises built on Mulholland Drive?

Point is the population branded Millennial is very wide, making generalizations foolish.

it's relevant, though any race can be included in that statement. there's this stereotype of millenials as all educated urban well off professionals when its not hte case at all

Very good point. And by the way, most millennial whites are not well off and do not have advanced degrees either. You'll find plenty of white people working in stores, restaurants, and bars.

And yes the job market is not good these days. Offshoring of labor, outsourcing of work to temp agencies, and other actions have decimated private sector employment to the point where most private sector jobs are low pay with no benefits.

This is not a knock against you, but let's be serious the majority of new transplant arrivals can barely afford a ROOM.
Very true. In talking to some younger people here, some move here without a car. While mass transit has greatly improved, not having a car in LA while possible, still isn't easy.

Your situation is not the norm. Many of the younger people who move here(and especially if they're trying to get into some aspect of the entertainment industry) aren't moving out here with sale of condo in another state to back them up.

And this isn't anything new.

yep, all those idiots say... oh wow the economy has rebounded, unemployment at 5% or whatever... little do they realize two things... one, it doesn't count the 20% of people who have given up on looking for a job or live off gov aid, and two, the jobs that have returned, tend to be lower paying or part time compared to how it used to be!
