my mobile app read 109 yesterday in encino as the max temp, yuck. it was odd though, around 5, as the shadows started to get longer, a gentle breeze picked up and it was quite tolerable in the shade. i was even able to bbq (which would have seemed ridiculous just a half hour earlier). we put up a portable canopy and let the kids splash around in an inflatable pool and it was a lovely father's day evening. i was telling my wife that had this been july or august, it would not have been that pleasant at that time of the evening.

My forecast shows minimal relief after today with a forecast near 100 for next Sunday Monday Tuesday also. This summer is going to blow hard.

Hey, at least our beaches won't be as cold. Quit complaining and take a trip to your local beach or lake. Arizona and Nevada would sell their soul to have a coast like us.

Excessive Heat Warning in the Los Angeles area

"Heat, maximum temperatures between 100 and 110 degrees are expected today away from the immediate coast. The hottest area will be in the Hollywood Hills."

That's kind of interesting. Wouldn't expect that to be the hottest area.

To be fair we have it very good here, compared to most of the country.

This heat wave we're experiencing is the norm if you live in Phoenix for months on end.

In the east it is in the high 80s and low 90s, but with 50% humidity. That IMO is worse than triple digits with low humidity.

I hate the heat, but if I had to choose I would take this over humidity.
