For those long time LA residents, you'd remember a time when those red double decker buses wouldn't venture into DTLA. The tourist buses would stick to Hollywood Blvd, Wilshire, and maybe Santa Monica. Yes SF and New York have intense traffic and alot hidden gems scattered, but these Starline tours are expanding territory like crazy and i can't even imagine how long they get stuck in traffic for. Makes the tour impossible to do in one go.

At least it gives people the real LA commuting experiencing by actually witnessing it first hand. So i'm seeing these tour buses in Chinatown, Olvera Street, and even *gasp* Boyle Heights Mariachi Plaza area. LA being sprawly, i can vision these buses one day passing by Malibu, Pasadena, Burbank in the future.

I was driving in holmby hills area one day. I heard the guide over the loud speaker of one of those buses say "to the right is Denzel Washington's estate. Across the street here is where Madonna resides." LOL

The tourists were taking pictures like crazy as if Denzel and Madonna really did live at those places.. LOL

We get desensitized living here, but when you live in Cozad, Nebraska and you come out on vacation, it's a pretty big deal

Yeah I've taken those tourist buses in other cities like NYC and SF before to get kind of a quick overview of the city .
Besides we need tourism here
It's funny people in NYC especially always complain about tourists but they are also a big part of their economy there too .

Tourists spend more in the local economy going out and on shopping than the average local .

LA Had a record breaking 45.5 million tourists visits in 2015

That's a huge impact to the economy

Los Angeles Sets New Tourism Record, Announces 45.5 Million Visitors in 2015 | Discover Los Angeles

If I see tourists I try to help them out. I remember walking on Hollywood Blvd some months ago and saw a Belgium couple walking by themselves and they asked me where Barnsdale art park was and I looked it up for them and talked to them a little while .

I've never been a tourist in LA since I was born here but you can also go to a new neighborhood in LA and almost feel like a tourist , especially if you expand " LA " as including " LA county" which is massive and includes tons of independent cities

I did a bus tour back in 2005 and I really enjoyed it. We didn't encounter any crazy traffic, and visited key locales throughout LA proper. These tours are good for tourists to better appreciate highlights of LA... getting stuck in traffic wouldn't be so fun, but oh well.

At least maybe it will make for a good story for the folks back home.
"It's true what they say about the traffic in Los Angeles!"
