Agree.

Also why go somewhere on vacation and do the same exact thing you do at home?

Let me guess, the OP and his wife are from the Midwest and their social life revolves around the local college football team and drinking.

When you go on vacation, expand your horizons.

If you want to do exactly the same as you do at home, than do a "staycation".

Is there no certain area where college students go to hang out, watch the game and have fun?
I just graduated from USC in may....most of us would go to downtown LA to go bar hopping. All we did was take the metro two stops, get off and then walk from bar to bar, never once did we need a car. Another popular area is downtown Santa Monica. While santa monica is a little bouiger than DTLA if you will lol, it's still a very fun area with a young crowd. I don't know much about westwood, but I'm sure they have a lot of bars popular among college students.

Big Wang's in Hollywood. As other posters have said, LA is not really a college town, but if you're looking for a place that has lots of twentysomethings, shows all the games, and has typical sports bar beer and food, it fits the bill.
