Been working in Calabasas for last month and the 101 is horrible. In the morning I can get here in around 30 mins usually but after work it can take up to an hour or more. There has to be a shortcut to the 405 south besides Ventura Blvd. Any ideas?

If there is a shortcut be assured that thousands of others have already found it, making it no longer a shortcut. It's a differentcut.

I live in Woodland Hills and often work on the Westside or the beach cities. This route has saved me on most days except when they were working on PCH.

This. ^^^^ Its about the ONLY viable alternative to the 101. Unless you work on the very very far west side of Calabasas then you can take Las Virgines, but for the most part, thats what you've got.

But make sure your vehicle can stop relatively quickly. If you have a truck of some kind, I'd avoid Topanga.

I've driven that Topanga Canyon route, and seems like it's RELATIVELY sparsely travelled, but not for the squeamish. It isn't a straight road by any means. Also, traffic in LA sucks.
