So I would probably need to make at least $30,000 per year then. I don't have a problem taking public transportation.

And thats the cost when you don't have a car... if you intend on driving you need to add at least $300 extra per month and forget about any savings

well the minimum wage is meant to be $15.00 an hour soon which is 31k so that shouldn't be a problem

So does that mean that employers have to pay their employees at least $15.00 an hour? Regards of their profession? Is there anyone I could call to find out how much entry level Dental Assistants make in LA? Would one of the Dental Schools be able to give me that information?

I called one of the dental schools and the representative told me it depends on the school and area for the pay. Wow I wonder why all Dental Assistants can't make $15 per hour that's odd.

I find LA fairly easy to make money. I could not imagine living off of 30k a year. Granted I have a stay at home wife who raises our 5 year old daughter, but at my salary of 74k annually we barely get by. Although my side projects help tremendously which we are using to catch up on debt.

OP, you asked pretty much the same questions back in August. Are you really moving or just looking for a conversation?

Probably. It would likely take multiple roommates and the level to which you'd enjoy yourself would be highly open to debate, but you wouldn't be the first one to do it. Others have given you a rough budget already; again it will largely depend on where in L.A. you'd be living.

Eh. I've been one of OP's harshest critics on C-D, but even the crusty old cynic in me is willing to give her the benefit of the doubt since she's asking a fairly concrete question rather than a string of nebulous ones. If nothing else, the answers might benefit someone else.
