I tend to come by that area, so... Construction is happening, but - slowly. There's a new, pretty fancy, walkway/pedestrian path along the waterfront. A lot of the old buildings have been torn down, and foundations for new ones are going in. Named restaurants and businesses. Feels like the bones are there...

It's a great location - USS IOWA will be moved closer, there are tall ships docked (always a pleasure to look at) and the Fish Market restaurant is still there, going strong. It has solid potential, IMO.

It went to seed a little bit. Apart from the above-mentioned Fish Market, it was weird souvenir/curio stores and whatnot.

I can easily believe that. It's just that it seemed, well - stuck in the 1980s? The area has such potential.

This from November 2022 is the last thing I can find on it. https://ktla.com/news/san-pedro-wate...-construction/

I hope this is done right. Have such great memories of the old Ports O' Call from when I was a kid. I especially remember the helicopter rides. I never got on it, but everytime we went my mom would ask if I wanted to go on it.

Hi,

I live in San Pedro. I live near the area. The main construction has finally started. They are only in the "digging up the parking lot/demo/prep" stages at the moment. Most of the delay was caused by the Ports O' Call restaurant not leaving when they were supposed to (Construction company's schedule was delayed and had to reschedule) and then of course the Pandemic. There is also a nice promenade along the main channel that was finished over a year ago. However, it ends (going south) at the construction zone. (Where the fish market building stands)
