It appears to cost 33.6% more to attend college in California.

I just heard from a neighbor here in Dallas that when they lived in Pasadena they paid like $400 for garbage alone. She was implicating there are lots of other hidden costs beyond State Income tax... True?

And if so, is this true for all of LA and surrounding areas?

You can have Mello Roos taxes if you buy a newer home/condo. These can be over $1,000 per month for years. I've never heard of $400/month for garbage alone. That sounds a bit embellished.

I was in Malibu yesterday and ordered fish and chips and a soda... 17.00 bucks
We pay that for movies in Oregon too. And Malibu prices are hardly representative of most of Ca.

A commercial apartment size trash container is about $50 a week, did your friend manage a 16 unit apartment building that required two bins?

Default $400 for garbage alone

That must be per year, that is about right $33 a month for trash pick to a residential home.

Not in all areas of So Cal. Moving from MN the fruits and vegetables are better and much cheaper in So cal. I also save a fortune on heating costs.

I was comparing with Texas. I bet our fruits and vegetables are fresher/ cheaper. Is meat cheaper there? Do your pay more in a/c here?
