Yes, in a speech announcing the new $ 6,000,000 "Jobs For Felons" program the other day, our trusty Mayor actually found a new term for the felons who have been robbing, raping and pillaging the citizens of Los Angeles. They are now referred to as "Justice Affected". I guess the next thing will be to call the homeless people "Shelter Challenged".

It's sick really . What an insult to the victims of these criminals .

I'm guessing his speech was in relation to this ?

Sorry I've had my house broken into I'm guessing that's a "property crime" right ?
I don't think we should give those scumbags doing that a get out of jail free card.
Now criminals know they won't go to jail so they are committing more crime at least according to law enforcement . I'll take the word of law enforcement over a politician like Brown or Garcetti .

"Nearly $36 million will flow into L.A. County to fight recidivism over the next few years—money all saved by sending fewer people to prison for drug and property crimes.

California voters passed Proposition 47 in 2014, downgrading many drug and property crimes from felonies to misdemeanors, meaning offenders would no longer go to state prison. The authors of the initiative promised that it would yield savings from the state an that the money would be reinvested in programs designed to cut recidivism and prevent entry to the criminal justice system."

From Garcetti's website

Second chances ? Everyone knows when a criminal gets caught it's usually not their first crime . Also lots of these scumbags have been in and out of jail a lot more than once .
A second change means you made a mistake once .

Support from peers ? Like other criminals ?
Anybody else think this is a huge waste?

Will he be handing out gift baskets too ?
It's so bizarre his fetish for criminals
---

Los Angeles is the city of second chances — and people who have served time and are returning home deserve the opportunity to rebuild their lives, earn a good living, and break the cycle of incarceration and recidivism,” said Mayor Garcetti. “My Office of Reentry works to support justice-involved individuals by creating opportunities for employment, and this grant will help us do even more to bring families and communities back together.”

Participants in the program will receive a personalized risk/needs assessment, ongoing one-on-one therapy, formal support from peers and mentors, and access to legal services.

A family member of mine recently passed away, and while waiting for the morticians to arrive at their home, I spoke to a couple of L.A. County Sheriff Deputies. The topic of home burglaries and robberies came up, and they stated that the reason for the increase in crime was due to Prop 47. When one law enforcement officer after another tells me that Prop 47 has caused an increase in crime, I tend to believe them as I cannot think of any motive for them to be giving me disingenuous information. OTOH, there are a lot of people, both in the political sphere as well as this forum, of whom I cannot say the same.

Got a link to this quote? Because according to Google, the only person on the entire internet using this phrase happens to be a feller called "JustMike77" who uses it just once on some weird politics forum called "city-data". No other mention of this phrase appears anywhere on the internet, to the best that I can determine. Not even a source where this JustMike77 got the quote from. So, before the forum works itself into a holy righteous rage over something again, can we verify at least that it is a real quote and not just some kind of paraphrase invented by JustMike77?

Let's just not lock up anybody in jail for any crime .

Look how much money we would save!

No need for jails or public defenders either !

We will save a fortune !!

Yeah I know I always think that too . Tony V wasn't great or even good , but at least it didn't seem like he was pushing such a partisan far leftist agenda like Garcetti .

The choices for governor so far are awful .

Newsom , Tony V or possibly Eric "thank the criminals for their service" Garcetti .
