How's the area just north of Alondra Park and El Camino College? Are these neighborhoods safe for my 80 something parents to take a nice walk at 8:00 pm at night?

It is very close to Compton. But rumor has it Compton is going through gentrification. Is that true? Is the good or bad elements winning the war around El Camino Village?

I've lived in Torrance before (around Wilson Park) and always thought Gardena was maybe 20% less safe, but still safer than Hawthorne or Harbor City.

On a related note, do you guys think this area has HUGE potential? My reasoning:
  • It is just 20 minutes from Silicon Beach.
  • It is just 20 minutes from Ram's new stadium. Close enough to visit easily, but not so close as to be affected by its traffic.
  • Beautiful beach weather.

I️ think that entire area has a bunch of potential. Lawndale Hawthorne Gardena. The beach cities are $ million + to live there so middle class and younger working couples are moving to these areas. All these cities are all very very close to where the jobs are also very close to the beach considering the prices. El Segundo is seeing a big tech boom and Torrance has a lot offices so the economy in the area can support increasing prices especially as more people move in and push out the lower income folks(e.g. Gentrification ) .

El Camino Village is not even adjacent to Compton so I️ don’t think it affects t too much.
