if you want a REALLY good seat, I suggest your FEET be on Colorado Blvd about 5:00am.

If you plan on just parking your car at the park n ride at 5:30am, and hopping the Gold Line at 6:00am, that means you wont be on Colorado Blvd until 7:00am, just in time to see a back of a bunch of peoples' heads, for the parade start at 8am.

source:
I have stepped OVER people sleeping on the sidewalk at 2am, to get in a taxi, coming out of Q's Billiards after last call on NYE. The hardcore people camp out the night before. My bones are too old to sleep on concrete.

This is true. But the OP has already said that they have already bought tickets for one of those seats.

I agree with the poster who said to catch the Gold Line further out in Azusa. Azusa station has a pretty large garage, you could also try the station in Irwindale which has a bigger garage. Per the Tournament of Roses website the trains will start a parade day schedule at 5am.

If it were me I would plan on arriving at the Azusa station right around 5am to secure a parking spot. Take the train and get off at Memorial Park or Allen and walk to your seats.

I didn't catch that, but be aware *some people*:

- I have challenged people sitting in my reserved seat at ArcLight Theatres for their ticket stub
- I have challenged people sitting in my reserved seat at a Dodger game for their ticket stub
- I have challenged people sitting in my reserved seat at the Staples Center for their ticket stub

... and to be fair: everybody in my row "shifted right" to the better seats at the Hollywood Bowl when a party of 8 was a hour late to a concert. However, a generous hippie chick offered me alcohol from her Camelback hose (I did not partake). So lots of weird things happen in these mass events, and section ushers are easily overwhelmed and often disappear after the show starts.

Yup - I have reserved grandstand tix on 235 Colorado in hand. However, I am going to heed the advice of a prior poster and head for the Gold Line farther east. It looks like about a 20-minute ride from Azusa to the parade area.

Looking forward to it. Thanks for the advice, all.

Even better take Metrolink from Upland or Montclair and change to the Gold Line at Union Station. The transfer is free with your Metrolink ticket.

That would be worse. You're going downtown which is too far west just to go back east. Best suggestion is to park at Asuza and take the Gold Line from there. Plus, there are going to be a ton of people who will be going to Union Station after the parade.

Parking at Azusa will be impossible. I took Metrolink last year and it worked great.
