I want to move to a cheap area relatively close to both Los Feliz and Silverlake, located within a short walk of Sunset Blvd (I need to take the 2/302 to UCLA every day). Any thoughts on where the cheapest apartments are in this area? I'm not particularly concerned about safety, just about price.

Thanks.

Try the apartments near Hollywood or Sunset and Western. Last time I checked, that area was still somewhat affordable. If you are open to a roommate, you might do better. Try losangelescraigslist.org

Silver Lake is not a cheap area, for the most part. I doubt you'll find much of anything for less than $1K/month. You should find less expensive places the farther west you go into Hollywood. Check craigslist. (I'm not familiar with a 302, where is it?)
