I'll look for stickers next time I observe traffic.

What amuses me is traffic going at normal off-hours speeds (65-70) and some jerk is driving 60 in the HOV lane, holding up everybody behind. I have no clue why such people do that.

Actually I just don't believe HOV lanes do anything better for our traffic than just changing them to regular lanes. I would like to see a scientific study on whether the HOV program has increased vehicle occupancy, or if it's just a freeb for people who already have two people anyway, without thought of the program.

Whenever I drive the 405 during morning or afternoon rush hours, the HOV lane is just as backed up as the other lanes. So what's the point?

I think the population has reached a point where there is a critical mass on the 405 just about all times except middle of the night.

Might as well get rid of the HOV lane and just add it back in to the traffic flow.

In sections I see that too: HOV lane going little or no faster than the rest of the traffic.

I wish I had made this a poll: get rid of HOV lanes?

I agree on the 405. You know why they call it the 405, right? Because you're always driving 4 or 5 mph!

Give it a few more years and the Valley 405 will be jammed from about 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. By 2025 it will probably be jammed 24/7.

I can see no reduction of traffic on the weekends.

Plus, on there rare occasion the HOV lane is mostly empty, I always end up getting stuck behind a mini-van going 62mph. Get out of the way!!!!

Same thing with large delivery trucks. They have two guys riding in them, so they get in the HOV lane, only to go 64mph.

I personally think there should be limits on the type of vehicles allowed in the HOV lanes. No commercial vehicles or trucks over say 8k lbs.

Are they EV cars? I think they’re exempt.

At that speed in traffic I can't afford to spend too much time looking at vehicles in the HOV lane. And if I had a passenger I'd BE in the HOV lane.

I'll been commuting Santa Clarita to Burbank for 2.5 years and I would estimate 75% of the vehicles in HOV lanes in rush hours are illegal. I've never seen anyone pulled over and I have seen people blatantly doing it when there are police on the road so I guess it's not enforced.

That was my conclusion and that's why I posted this topic.

It is really annoying when scofflaws get away scott free. And I'm stuck in traffic watching the law breakers cruise past me.

It's just the thing for somebody already annoyed by the 4 or 5 mph they are driving.
