Hi everyone, this is my first post. I got a cool job on Aaron street, LA but now I have to find a safe area to live near work. The number of neighborhoods in LA is staggering and I'm lost on which ones are safe. I'm moving from Irvine, CA so safety is something I have taken for granted over the years. Does anyone have any advice for someone who has only lived in a suburb his whole life to find a good location in LA near the address I gave?

Stay Hollywood Hills and West is a good choice. Studio City is nice, the area is not Irvine and patchy, what LA calls an up and coming will be sketchy compared to Irvine.

Also Marina Del Rey and surrounding is nice going North. Commuting in LA blows, sometimes just a few miles takes 10 min, text the map features on WAZE and see the morning traffic during an average workday to see the traffic and how long it will take.

Sure, I'm looking to spend under $1500 and I'm open to subleasing. I found a really nice cottage in silverlake, but don't know how safe it is around there.

Be real careful. That’s a very low price and may or may not actually be silver lake.

With your budget you’ll be hard pressed to find a place. There’s no place like Irvine anywhere near there. The nicest neighborhoods within a short drive are going to be Studio City, Burbank, Glendale, La Cresenta, La Canada, and South Pasadena. Silver Lake and Los Feliz are nice too but with your rent range, I don’t see how you are going to find anything there.

Are you looking to rent a room, or your own place? You should be able to get into a decent area if its just for a room.
