I will be visiting L.A. in a couple of months and reserved a little airbnb in Inglewood, but people are telling me to change it. It is in the area of 98th St. Is that very dangerous?

That is true. But 2 bed apts are renting for over $2k and houses are selling for around $1 million in that neighborhood right now so it can't be all bad. I haven't actually been there in about 10 years so I can't comment too much but I know the area is under revitalization with the new NFL stadium being built in Inglewood at Hollywood Park which is right next to 98th st

Inglewood is dicey. It's also terrible if you are using public transportation and not at all convenient for sight seeing the normal touristy things. Also, different cities in LA County have different laws regarding short term rentals - you need to make sure yours is legal (this one, or any other one you might decide on - also, laws become more strict in July). Hosts should have a license number and be able to provide you with a copy of their license. You should check out Tripadvisor.com for travel info - City Data is really not set up for tourist info.

If it's 98th Street west of La Brea (even better if it's west of Inglewood Ave), then you'll be okay but that's not the best area of the city. Inglewood's nicest areas are north of Florence and west of La Brea generally. 98th Street is barely in the city limits of Inglewood and sits right next to Lennox, which is an unincorporated area that's not the best to be in.

I wouldn't change your AirBnb if you are in the area I mentioned. Also, if the host has great ratings with many reviews then you'll be fine. Even at the height of the LA area gang wars and crime in the 70s-90s, Inglewood was never as bad as other places (South LA, Compton, Florence-Firestone) and that still holds true today.

It was bad 20 years ago. Started getting better as home prices increased. 98th isn’t the best part of Inglewood, but you’ll most likely be ok. Areas in North inglewood are considered much more desirable (north of Manchester/the new stadium and west of Crenshaw. Are all great and plenty safe.
