His killer was likely a gang member in his “orbit “

So looks like even though he was a well known rapper he was still hanging around with gang bangers .

His later life signaled the exact opposite, that rap stardom offered opportunities to do more. He was entrepreneurial, doing things to improve his old neighborhood and showing by example what people can aspire to do. His own inspirations were entrepreneurs. I think you're drawing the easy conclusions that people who haven't followed him would. I didn't follow him as a hip-hop artist. I do know of him as a positive force in his community.

As for his death, police suspect he knew his killer and it was personal. Whether this killing was gang-related or not, what he was actually doing for Crenshaw transcended all that.

Unfortunately there are many that use it as a stepping stone. Not sure if Jay Z was in a gang but he did get his start selling crack and used money to bankroll his own record label and now he's worth $900 million.

You got damn whites and your "Just another dead N___" remarks are pathetic.
Racist comment and didn't know he was talking to a black guy. Well done.

Another dead gang banger. Who'd have guessed? "Big loss". Yeah. Big!

Not surprised people are ignoring his recent contributions to the Crenshaw community in regards to bringing money in, his business and entrepreneurial acumen, and his talent because he had a past as a gang member. Disappointing as hell but no surprise.

Boosie said a couple of years ago most rappers die in their own cities and it is likely they will know their killer because of hatred and jealousy. Unfortunately I think this will end up being exhibit A to that point.

A heartbreaking loss for music and even more so for Los Angeles. RIP Nipsey.

Here we go again. Some rapper unable or unwilling to put his past behind him dying violently and senselessly. I thought the gangsta rap era ended long ago.
