Hi everyone:

First time posting, but I’ve been a long time reader of this forum. Thank you to anyone who might have the answer.

I’m going to be commuting one evening a week (Thursdays) from my work in Culver City to a class I’m taking in Pasadena. (Class starts at 7pm)

I know traffic is going to be awful, (it always is, especially on Thursdays) but just bad am I in for? What would be a good time to leave? I’m thinking two hours early, so 5pm, right? Can anyone recommend a good route to take? Would it be worth taking the 405 to the 101/134, or should I take 10 to 110? (Or something else?j

Thank you.

Is a two-hour commute one way worth it for a class? And any of those routes will be congested. I agree w/ AGuy; look into Santa Monica CC for your class.

Thanks everyone. I had a feeling that was going to be the consensus. I might have to revise my plans a little.

Please do: I,like others have to wonder what class is worth that type of commute, but only you know the reason you have decided to take the class. Good luck whatever you decide.

The reason I was considering Pasadena is because the class takes place at Art Center College of Design. I'm taking extension classes this year, and the choice was between Art Center and Otis. I was really trying to go for Art Center because of several recommendations and its reputation in the industry, but their schedule is nearly impossible to work with for full-time working professionals. I found one class that I thought MAYBE could work, but I now realize the commute is not going to be manageable, especially because Thursday evenings, in my experience, are the worst time of the week to be commuting.

Oh well. Back to the drawing board. Thanks again to everyone who chimed in.

Yes Art Center is top notch (especially in automotive design) but it's not worth your sanity. And Otis is good too.
