After a brief reprieve of cool temperatures over the weekend, Southern California is expected to get hit with another heat wave this week that could bring periods of elevated fire risk, according to forecasters.

Temperatures are likely to stay around the 90-degree mark in the Los Angeles area for most of the week, said John Dumas, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Inland and valley areas are expected to see triple-digit temperatures.

Arizona and California experienced their warmest April-to-September period in 126 years, the Drought Monitor reported. New Mexico and Nevada had their second-warmest such period.

If this continues into the future, climate change, then we may have to reverse our sleep schedules, sleep away the heat of the day, and go to work at 8pm rather than 8am.

For 20 years now, given I've worked the nightshift and now being retired 2 years, I climb into bed around 9-10am, and sleep until 7pm when it's starting to cool off. I've done this in both Las Vegas and Tucson.

So when someone says: It was a scorcher this summer? I reply: I don't understand what you're talking about!

Can't you guys get any breaks? know how hot NM has been. Our son lives there and we still have friends there so I pay pretty close attention to the daily temps. Here in AR we have had a nice summer, so I am thinking what you are going through this year may bite us next year.

Man what does it take to see a drop of rain around these parts? Far as I can recall I don't believe we've had any rain here since Corona started up strong.. which is like March. Might pop a bottle of champagne when a drop finally falls from the sky. I love the sun just as much as the next person but this sucks.

It'll be back by tomorrow.

Gosh, let's not start wailing about where is fall every time we have a warm day in October or November.

"Wailing about" it? <sigh> The subject of the thread is heat in the L.A. area.

And aren't you in Orange County, anyway? It's always much cooler down that way.
