My fiance and I have finally made it to town and we have to procure some furniture in very short order. However, I'm not a big fan of the modern stuff and would much rather pick up some vintage things. Does anyone have any suggestions for some flea markets or antique fairs that have a pretty good selection, for non-obscene prices? We just got to town two days ago and for various reasons need to get set up as fast as possible, so we don't have a lot of time to sift through miles of tcotchkes looking for furniture. I've heard the Rose Bowl flea market is good, but is it going to be too large for it to be a really efficient experience for us? Thanks in advance for any advice!

The Rose Bowl (or and swap meet) for that matter would be hit or miss when it comes to getting furniture. Since you need to get something in "very short order" maybe you could just pick up something fro Ikea until you find a place for vintage furniture.

Most places are pretty price when it comes to vintage or "vintage looking" furniture. One of my favorite places for vintage and "vintage looking" stuff is Jackalope in North Hollywood - Jackalope | A world of curiosities | Furniture (http://www.jackalope.com/furniture.html - broken link) . You can also try some of the tiny "trendy" stores along Sherman Way in Canoga Park between Topanga Canyon and Canoga. There are definitely some treasures that could be found there. Good luck with your search.

There are a lot of estate sales or you can try the Fairfax High School swap meet. There are also a lot of thrift stores on Fairfax just south of Olympic.
